Challenge

Asset Discovery Begins with Accurate Attribution

Among the questions blue teams, red teams, domain owners, and DevOps professionals ask during asset discovery and DNS risk detection is: "Who owns this domain?” Answering this is essential for risk attribution, threat hunting, and understanding infrastructure change.

To deliver the most accurate and thorough findings, DNSAudit.io needed a reliable, fast, and accurate source for enriching their scans with external domain ownership intelligence.

Solution

Integrating Precise Domain Registration Context

DNSAudit.io partnered with WhoisXML API to integrate the WHOIS API directly into the WHOIS analysis section of the DNSAudit.io platform. The integration allows users to see current ownership and registration details alongside security scan results, including the registrar, domain age, WHOIS server, nameservers, expiration date, status codes, and registrant and technical contact details.

  • Faster investigations: Users can access domain ownership and infrastructure details instantly during a scan.

  • Stronger attribution and prioritization: Detailed ownership and registrar data enable clearer risk attribution and more effective mitigation decisions.

Together, these improvements enable DNSAudit.io to deliver more accurate, enriched, and actionable audit findings that help users spot misconfigurations and address them faster.
