Python Script for Capturing Reverse NS API’s Full Output

WhoisXML API has recently created a Python script to help Reverse NS API users capture the entire query output without being restricted to 300 results through automatic pagination.

The script essentially removes the limitation of standard API pagination, automatically retrieving all subsequent pages of the query output instead of the user manually requesting each page. This capability enables users to fully automate processes and pipelines that rely on Reverse NS API data.

WhoisXML API Ranks in the Financial Times Top Fastest-Growing Companies in 2025

WhoisXML API is proud to be recognized once again in the annual edition of The Americas’ Fastest-Growing Companies in 2025 by the Financial Times in collaboration with Statista.

Subdomain Database Coverage Expands from 2.3B to 9.6B Subdomains

In line with our commitment to continuous improvement, we recently expanded the data coverage of Subdomains Database Download from an average of 2.3 billion to more than 9.6 billion subdomain records, as seen in our latest weekly full files. This coverage enhancement is a direct result of techniques employed to optimize data processing and storage efficiency, with our development team focusing on improving data indexing and retrieval, as well as enhancing resolving processes—overall enabling faster lookups and more accurate results for our database.

WhoisXML API Joins the Global Anti-Scam Summit (GASS) London 2025

Alexandre François (Product Marketing Director) and David Hagberg (Strategic Partnerships Director) represented WhoisXML API at the Global Anti-Scam Summit (GASS), held in Westminster, London, U.K., on 26–27 March 2025. They joined more than 1,000 in-person and virtual attendees at the event, which aimed to bring together a community of fraud fighters and build a framework for tackling fraud and scams—two growing problems worldwide, in both developed and developing countries.

The event brought to light the urgency of fighting against cybercrime, especially since Internet users are up against highly organized and determined fraud groups. In fact, one in four individuals globally has fallen victim to fraud and scams, with fraudsters having amassed nearly US$1.03 trillion in 2024.

Catch Domain Events Earlier with the includeCandidates Parameter in Real-Time Domain Registration Streaming

We are excited to announce that our development team has upgraded Real-Time Domain Registration Streaming to include a feature called “includeCandidates,” an optional Boolean parameter that allows users to immediately obtain simplified domain records directly from zone files before they undergo newly registered domain (NRD) processing.

The candidate records only have two fields, namely, “domainName” and “reason,” where the latter field can be “added” for NRDs or “dropped” for recently removed domains.

Newly Registered Domains (NRD) Data Feed Now Offers Up to One Year of Historical Files

We are excited to share that Enterprise and Ultimate subscribers of the Newly Registered Domains (NRD) Data Feed will now have access to past data feed files, giving security professionals deeper context to help trace threat patterns and evolution.

In particular, NRD Enterprise users can access files produced in the past 30 days from their subscription date, while NRD Ultimate users can go as far back as 365 days. With this new enhancement, WhoisXML API users can now use NRD data feeds to:

March 2025: Domain Activity Highlights

The WhoisXML API research team analyzed 8.2+ million domains registered between 1 and 31 March 2025 to identify the most popular registrars, top-level domain (TLD) extensions, and other global domain registration trends.

We also determined the top TLD extensions used by 59.2+ billion domains from our DNS database’s A record full file dated 6 March 2025.

Next, we studied the top TLDs of 1.1+ million domains detected as indicators of compromise (IoCs) this March.

Finally, we summed up our findings and provided links to the threat reports produced using DNS, IP, and domain intelligence sources during the period.

Wildcard DNS Records: Use Cases and Associated Risks

As an organization’s internet infrastructure grows, it requires more and more configuration, setup, and decision-making—from selecting a reliable name server to determining the right types of DNS records and setting the appropriate time-to-live (TTL) values. One of those decisions is whether or not to create a wildcard DNS record, a feature that most hosting providers, registrars, and DNS providers offer.

In this post, we discuss what a wildcard DNS record is, how it helps, and any risks associated with it.
